Professional Bio
Since graduating from the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, Dr Joanna Woodnutt worked in companion animal practice in the Midlands. She worked for a number of practices and branches doing medicine, surgery, and feline-only practice as well as out-of-hours emergency work. In 2019, Joanna left full time practice and now works as a locum/relief vet in the Channel Islands.
Joanna lives with her husband and daughter on the Channel Island of Alderney, which is where she grew up. In the summer, Jo likes kayak fishing on the north coast of the island, and loves to cook fresh mackerel with a simple, home-grown, green salad!
Jo’s Pets
Jo currently has one dog, Pixie, a rescued crossbreed terrier weighing just 6kg! She likes to joke that Pixie is badly behaved but she’s alright really- she’s just got terrible recall! Jo also has a couple of chickens.
”I love trying to explain complex medical topics as simply as I can - it's a bit of a challenge. I also love coming up with new ways to make learning about pet health fun!
