Professional Bio
Hannah graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2011 and began work straight away at a busy mixed practice. Initially, she treated all species, but focussed on small animals from 2014. She has a passion for soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, and canine and feline dentistry, having completed additional training in these areas.
Since 2018, she has worked at a smaller, independent practice close to home, in order to devote more time to her other love – writing comedy fiction. February 2023 marks a big development in Hannah’s career, as she moves from permanent clinical veterinary work to become an Editor for a global medical communications company. She won’t be giving up clinical work altogether, though, and will still do regular locum shifts at her local veterinary practices.
Hannah grew up in South Wales as one of triplets. Her brothers have both moved further afield, one to Stockholm and the other to London but she feels firmly rooted in Cardiff. She lives with her partner, her cats Ashton Kutcher and Poppy and her toddler, who keeps her very busy! Aside from writing, editing, and being a vet, Hannah enjoys baking and upcycling unloved furniture.
Hannah’s Pets
Hannah currently has only two cats, but fights a constant battle not to bring home every abandoned stray that comes into her work! Poppy is a hand-reared silver tabby cat who was found and brought in as a tiny kitten on one of her first nights on call. Ashton Kutcher is a young black and white moggie who was found on the side of a dual carriageway when he was just five weeks old. It is Hannah’s dream to have a ginger tabby cat, who she can name Richard Parker, from Life of Pi.
I enjoy the escapism and creativity of all forms of writing but I’m especially passionate about communication and connecting with people, be that through education or emotion.
