Pyometra is a life-threatening condition that occurs in un-neutered female dogs. Often, dogs will have a thick, sticky discharge from their vulva, but this is not always present. Most dogs will need surgery to treat the condition, but in some situations, it can be treated with intensive medical therapy. However, the dog will almost certainly develop another pyometra if they are not neutered.

Sneezing in cats is often mild and, in some cases, may resolve without treatment. Occasionally, sneezing can become a long-term issue, or have a more serious underlying cause.

When I was asked to write this blog article about cats sneezing, I jumped at the chance. Being able to help dog owners by writing my veterinary knowledge down is one of my favourite parts of being a vet writer. In this blog about cat sneezing, I highlighted the issues with diagnosing the causes of cat sneezing as well as common treatments and solutions. I also addressed allergies as a common cause. Hopefully, I’ve written this blog article to be both understandable and accessible. I hope you like the article.

One of our regular clients asked me to write this article about heart disease in dogs. A common issue, I felt it was an important one to tackle and I hope I’ve done it justice…

“Our dogs’ hearts may become enlarged for several different reasons, but it usually indicates that there is a problem with the heart. Many common causes of an enlarged heart cannot be cured, but there is effective treatment available to support the heart and keep dogs’ quality of life as good as possible.”
